in the midst of stormy seas and uncertainties and the topsy turvy …

• we are drawn to things that can steady us, the things – no matter how small – that we can count on
• we embrace the blessing of each new day
• putting on brave faces and standing tall and guiding our paths
• we hold on to whatever we can look forward to, whatever warms our hearts, whatever routines and everyday little joys
• I am reminded, as ever, of the importance of making memories and documenting personal histories and celebrating all the little routines and rituals of our lives

And one of those “rituals” we can find joy in and count on is the fabulous bit of storytelling and memory keeping hullabaloo that is National Scrapbook Day. As for me, collecting “snapshots” has always been the foundation of my personal memory keeping and documentation of family history. I collect snapshots of favorites, of milestones, of personality, of todays, of hopes and wishes, of current events.  And then, when looked at from afar or when looked at together, these “snapshots” paint a beautiful portrait of what life is like for us, right now. Or once upon a time.
