Per Diem

“For each day”. Per Diem.

Every day we live our story. From moment to moment our narrative reveals itself through events and happenings, through circumstances, through relationships. Story lives in our routines and in all the “ordinary” things. Story lives in perceptions and emotions and interactions. It lives in our choices and how we spend our time. It is the daily details.

And Per Diem is all about keeping those everyday memories and documenting their story…for each day. Inspired by the little moments that weave themselves into biffer tapestries of Story, the Per Diem collection features cheerful color, classic and versatile story centric pieces perfect for documenting your daily stories.

Meet the Per Diem collection.

Archetype

Since the start of my love story with Storytelling and Memory Keeping, I have felt a drawn to documenting the details that reveal our every day personal story lines, full of personal idiosyncrasies and nuances, backstories and the painting of personality portraits. In short, the intersection of people and circumstances and feelings and happenings that define us. My hope is that what makes us, us..will shine through in our memory keeping through our words and photographs.  That everything that is quintessentially our own will live there in our art and stories.

And it’s this heart’s hope that has been driving all of my design work and it is the foundation for my latest collection, Archetype.

An archetype is a very typical example of a certain person or thing. A prototype, the standard, if you will. The quintessential description and definition. In our personal scrapbooking we illustrate our Personal Archetypes by documenting the personalities and characters of our loved ones (and ourselves). We capture all the little details that make them quintessentially themselves.

It is the spirit of The Personal Archetypes that has inspired this fresh collection. It is perfect for documenting the everyday, creating personality portraits, or keeping memories that celebrate what makes your loved ones so special.

Meet the Archetype collection.

Fresh Seeds | Good Things

It’s that energizing time of year – that time of beginnings – when I love to set my thoughts on all my Good Things: my goals, my hopes, my joys, my blessings and give them fresh focus.

It is the spirit of that kind of intentional focus of thought and action that has inspired my latest collection of papers and elements, Good Things. Fresh and brisk colors married with deeper, cozier hues and classic element pieces with a touch of whimsy makes Good Things a versatile go-to for documenting fresh starts, setting word compasses, and choosing the Good Things.

Meet Good Things.

Fresh Seeds | Ash Tree

I really find myself inspired by all things list-y, by numbers, and by any stories that find themselves rooted in those things.

Journaling a list is a fantastic method for capturing the story and the details that live in our every day.  And it can be fun to center the story around a number by creating a portrait of a loved one (or yourself) at a certain age, for example, or by documenting a specific day or time of day, or even documenting the number of times your daughter wants to watch her favorite My Little Pony show (we’re at 73, for the record).

So many stories have a connection to numbers, and to listing.  And so it was that spirit of story that inspired my latest collection fresh for the November BYOC at The Lilypad and just in time for Digital Scrapbooking Day!

And joining the element and paper collections is this set of {words and numbers}.  FULL of various numerals and number-centric elements, journal cards, and of word art pieces that focus on counting gratitudes, giving thanks, finding the good things, focusing on what matters most.

This set is a beautiful complement to Ash Tree and would work perfectly for celebrating gratitude, finding the positives and embracing deliberate thankfulness. It lends itself well to 30 Days of Gratitude projects or any other story or page featuring numbers, gratitude or both:

Fresh Seeds | Beech Tree

I think I find the greatest value in the documentation of everyday stories.  Maybe it’s because those little stories are the things that make our lives *full*.  The details, the conversations, the portraits of moments, the snapshots of character that reveal themselves in everyday happenings.  That’s precisely the kind of story that inspired my contribution to this month’s Build Your Own Collab collection at The Lilypad.

(Incidentally, I have to say.  This is one of those BYOC collections that makes my scrapbooking heart go pitter patter.  It really is full full full of beautiful contributions from the TLP designers.)

Inspired by the spirit of everyday storytelling, documenting the details, and leaving a legacy, the Beech Tree collection echoes the intent of the Beech Tree album which I created to document “in the life” stories.

The Beech Tree {elements} feature cohesive, colorful pieces and classic story-centric pieces for telling those everyday stories:

The coordinating paper collection includes 17 versatile papers in colorful yet restrained hues and patterns.  Meet Beech Tree {papers}:

And rounding out the Beech Tree collection is a versatile, structural full upper-case alphabet (plus numbers and punctuation) in six colors.  Meet Beech Tree {alpha}:

The Beech Tree collection is available at The Lilypad for 20% off through Sunday October 6, 2013.  Subscribers to The Garden Report receive an additional 10% savings.

I loved seeing the inspiration pages for Beech Tree.  Each one reveals the beauty of everyday kinds of stories.

{fresh seeds} | Petals No.4, Helenium, Stargazer, Grab Bag

Happy fresh month.  Happy BYOC.  Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day.  Happy Happy.  So very much to be happy about!  This time of year is one of my most favorite.  I just adore the cooler weather, the celebration of creativity, the bubbling anticipation for the holiday season that is just around the corner.  And the sense of gratitude that covers it all.

And the beginning of November is FULL of all of that.  This month’s Build Your Own Collab at The Lilypad is another stellar collection. It is a burst of color and warm and creativity. (more…)
