Storms make trees take deeper roots.

Life is messy sometimes, no? We are buffeted by storms and trials some days, some weeks, some months, some years. Sometimes we feel weary in the wind and rain. I love this quote because it reminds me that even the darkest and stormiest seasons work to make me stronger. My roots grow deeper in what strengthens and emboldens and uplifts me. For me my roots are planted in faith and hope, in beautiful things, in kindness, and in relationships with those who love me right where I stand.

What is done in love is done well.

When we begin with love, good things can follow. When we plant in love, good things can grow. When we DO with love, we do the next right thing. And that’s all that any of us can do. Come from a place of yes, lean in as they say…do it in love.

This quote felt like just the right one for the beginning of this parade of quotable inspiration.

Motherhood :: Free Download

I have been thinking a lot about motherhood. I think for most of us when we think “motherhood” we think “love”.

A special kind of beautiful power lives in the love that grows people.

When we mother what we are really doing is watering our people with love. So that kindness may grow there. And humanity. And caring. And strength. What we are really doing is uplifting and empowering. Sometimes what we are really doing is just holding hands and sitting with one another in the dark times.

And while on this day of mothers we celebrate it in the most familiar sense..we think of our mothers and our children in all the beautiful ways those relationships shine brightly. Or we think of those who have longed for or lost or fallen away from motherhood.

I say yes to that. All the yes. And I also say here’s to all those who mother one another. Here’s to those moments when we step in to mother our friends and loved ones, to mother our mothers, or to mother strangers who have never known what that love feels like. Here’s to the moments we must mother ourselves. Here’s to all the moments and all the seasons in our lives when we give the kind of love that grows people. The kind of love that leaves an imprint on us.

Motherhood. All love begins and ends there.

National Scrapbooking Day 2016 :: The Happenings

Happy Happy {inter} National Scrapbooking ~~Day~~ weekend!!

It’s the usual refrain and I still love it as much and as deeply as I did when I first began scrapbooking many many moons ago. No matter what Stories we are living and writing, the Art of Remembering them is so dear to my heart.

I so love this time of year when those of us who love to make memories and keep them, play with paper or pen, document our stories and explore our creativity get to have so much fun celebrating our love for scrapbooking and storytelling.

And NSD is a little extra special to me because it also marks my design anniversary.

And so I enthusiastically exclaim many “Happy Happy”s as we Storytellers, we Memory Keepers, we Family Historians, we Documentarians and Curators, we Artists and Journalers celebrate our love for scrapbooking and storytelling.
